We believe that fair, fun, and exciting competition fosters growth and learning, win or lose. We also believe that practice is the defining element of sports that generates all the qualities that we seek for our children: hard work, dedication, team work, sportsmanship, accountability, a winning mindset, and yes, sometimes the agony of defeat.
This is a coed league and coaches should work to ensure equity on their team. That said, this is a "play with who you got" league. We welcome teams of all girls or all boys, if teams don't have other options. But, lets work to make our kids great humans - a coed league at these ages sends a really important message to our kids about respect for gender and equity at an impressionable time.
When we have enough teams, they will play in one of two divisions within each league: a recreation league-- which is designed for teams that have been put together but only play in this league, and our Open division, which is for teams who have been previously organized and have experience playing together in other tournaments or leagues. If we do not have enough teams for two divisions, we will work to ensure the stronger teams play more often against other stronger teams.
Each team will get seven games and seven practices on the turf field (usually one game and one shared-field practice each week). At the conclusion of the season, the Championship Tournament begins--based on seeding, its a "win and stay in" bracket with the top two teams meeting for the Championship game!
